I've recently bought a Denon AVR-2106 amp off eBay last week as i need it for my final year Uni degree show. Now i was told on eBay that the amp is in fine working order yet it would come with no remote - the guy told me i wouldn't need the remote to do the basic stuff. I've hooked it up to a set of Tannoys and now i find out that the left channel is noticeably quieter than the right channel to the point where i have to go right up to it to make sure it's on. Now after doing a bit of research online i see this amp has an auto setup function and i was wondering if maybe the amp is still programmed to the previous owner's setup and thats why the left channel is quieter due to a different listening position or something. Does anyone think getting hold of a remote would sort this??

Cheers Jayson You'll also need the correct mic for that model (but that will be rendered useless without the remote anyway). You could do a factory reset which will restore it to the default settings. That'll cure the channel level balance. Turn the power off with the main power switch. Hold down the Speaker A and B buttons at the same time whilst turning the power back on (the display should now be flashing) and then release the buttons. You'll then have to find which digital input is assigned to which source input by trial and error. You really need a remote to do things properly. Try that for a quick fix. It's not ideal but will at least sort the channel levels out. In the mean time if anyone does have the Denon RC-1015 remote and no longer needs it then please get in touch. Cheers! But you would be able to set it up manually by ear or spl meter (the better option). I was reading the manual online and saw the option for a manual setup so i just need to be able to get into that menu. KD do you know if the remote will be sufficient enough for that. When using the spl meter you want all channels to be the same volume at the seated location. What the actual value is measured at is irrelevant as long as they are the same. 75db is a reference setting but no need to get all speakers to that.
